Catwoman gets a DC Nation Short
Way back in April I posted that Catwoman would be getting a DC Nation short. And this morning, when everyone thought the season was over, it appeared. The short is by Wolf Smoke from China and it is done in an anime style. And set in the past. And look for a quick nod to a villain appearing with Catwoman on the big screen.
I saw this this morning and it was so awesome.

Loki inspi sketch.
Avengers versionnn. Will upload a dress and skirt inspired by Lady Loki / Comic Loki latur.
I drew up the three designs when I did the Thor one but I haven’t had the time to color them till tonight. Preparing for Free Comic Book Day on top of working is killer >O<’.It’ll need a bit to assemble but here’s the jist of it!
- Black jacket or trench coat. Sleeves or no sleeve, the most important part would def have it lined in a darker / olive green,
- Bandage-esk top. If anything a black low cut top.
- The under shirt/bandeau would be scalloped shape or laced as long as it’s yellow.
- Belts belts belts!
- Fitted pants, preferably of the pleather sort.
- Any kind of shoes really as long as they’re black or darker green. I drew ones inspired by Jeffrey Cambell wedge boots. I thought spikes seem to go hand and hand with Loki since they kinda look like horns. Don’t think I could ever confidently wear those myself though hah.
- Accessorize! I drew lots of arm wear, bracelets, and one of those collar necklaces : ).
Hope you guys are gonna see the Avengers. Especially the premiere because I know I ammmm /sings.
This Loki-inspired look includes all of the styling essentials that a mischievous villain could ask for: multiple hip-slinging belts, studded footwear, bodycon bandaging, fingerless gloves, and just the right accents of green & gold.
This is true cosplay, anything else is just inadequate.
WHAT THE FUCK HOW DO YOU EVEN DO THIS
The Hunger Games’ Katniss, Young Justice’s Artemis, Brave’s Princess Merida - young female archers just seem to be everywhere. And now Marvel will be giving their young female archer, Kate Bishop, a role in the newly announced monthly, Hawkeye.
The Clint Barton title debuts in August and will re-team Matt Fraction and David Aja who worked on the terrific Immortal Iron Fist (which you should read because it is really good). Kate Bishop, a member of Young Avengers, was last seen in the Avengers: Children’s Crusade.

Similarly searching for purpose, Kate Bishop, former Young Avenger and the Marvel Universe’s other Hawkeye, will quickly fall in with her namesake.
“She’s his junior partner, his apprentice,” says Fraction. “It’s a very Avengers relationship—meaning Steed and Peel—and she’s as adrift as he is. What the hell are these two doing with their lives? Turns out, helping people is what they have to do to get through the night. In costume, in life, doesn’t matter. Good guys don’t punch a time card at 5:00.”
Steed and Peel were not mentor and apprentice. That said, I’m excited for this. Though I’ve only read Kate in New Avengers I like the character.
Bishop has also used the Hawkeye name so what will her code name be? The picture above is slugged with “Lady Hawkeye” (which made me think of Lady Bullseye and Lady Loki) but who knows if that’s what they will go with.
DC, of course, also had a young female archer Mia Dearden/Speedy, the partner of Green Arrow. That relationship (and character) was seemingly wiped out by the new 52. Hey, DC think about putting a young female archer in the DCU again, all the cool kids are doing it.
Hawkeye is played by Jeremy Renner in the upcoming Avenger’s movie so it’s not a surprise he’s getting his own book. Each of the movie’s male characters have had a standalone movie. Will this book help raise Hawkeye’s visibility and get him his? The character was most recently seen in Jim McCann’s Hawkeye and Mockingbird series (which I liked and I hope
Black CanaryBobbi is in this) which turned into a mini and then turned into a team-up with Black Widow.
I need more Kate Bishop in my life

Project: Rooftop finally announced their winner of their Spider-Man: Webhead 2.0 design contest co-judged by the guys from iFanboy and it looks like artist Mike Dimayuga came out on top. Genius move with the web fingers right there!
Also coming in in 2nd and 3rd place respectively are Brett Howard with his “compound eye” design and Rosy Higgins with her “DIY” design which might be my favorite…
You’ll also want to check out the Honorable Mentions section which collects tons of awesome artist’s designs.
The artists who partook in this contest were all pretty good, and all did some pretty cool things! It’s worth a look over if you have the spare time. Rosy’s DIY was the best, and she should have won, but the others were good too. -Kegan
